17 cze 2015 · i have been waiting for this sapling to grow for literally 6 hours now. i do not have access to bones for bonemeal or coal for torches or cobblestne to make a furnace to make the coal, my progress is hindered by the sapling
Bone meal can be used to speed up the growth of the sapling, even to grow the tree without sufficient light. Saplings can grow into trees when placed on all variants of dirt (except dirt paths) or moss blocks. The sapling requires a light level of at least 9, and require a certain volume of space above the sapling, based on its type:
21 lis 2016 · 2×2 spruce trees require a 5×5 column of unobstructed space at least 14 blocks above the saplings to grow (15 blocks including the saplings themselves). This column is centered on the northwestern sapling.
I'm not sure about the space, although it looks like there's enough for at least the smallest trees. The problem appears to be that your torch layout results in light level 8 in the block above the sapling, while they need light level 9 there in order to grow.

Saplings do not grow when there isn't a player within a certain radius, even if their chunk is loaded. For oak saplings, this check applies to individual blocks; for dark oak, acacia and birch, it applies to each chunk.
At night you need torches to grow saplings. Put 1 (minimum) on the jump-to block to maximize efficency. These are pretty much all the ways I can possibly think of, and am 95% there's not much else you can do.
