Mills Darden was born in North Carolina in 1799 and eventually made his way to Tennessee. He is generally credited with being the world’s most massive person, being over seven feet tall and weighing over one thousand pounds. Darden was taller and twice as heavy as Andre the Giant.

Mills Darden (October 7, 1799 – January 23, 1857 [1]) was an American who became famous as one of the largest men ever in human history. His enormous size both in terms of his body weight and height made him one of the biggest humans to have ever lived.
That title would go to Miles Darden (sometimes called Mills). Born in 1799 in North Carolina, Darden reportedly grew to stand 7 feet, 6 inches and weigh just over 1,000 pounds. That’s more than a foot shorter than Wadlow, but more than double his weight.
Mills (or Miles) Darden, innkeeper and farmer, was reputed to be the heaviest human on record until the twentieth century. He was born on a farm near Rich Square in Northampton County but moved to Madison County, Tenn., about 1829.
