7 gru 2018 · At 5 years after stroke, over 2 in 3 patients with IS, and over 3 in 4 patients with ICH, were either dead or functionally dependent. Early mortality was higher for ICH than for IS, whereas beyond 30 days, survival declined at about the same rate for both groups.

The rates of independent ambulation and death for different age groups presented here could help clinicians inform decision-making for patients with acute ischemic stroke with large infarct.
The calculator produces survival curves based on any combination of age, sex, and disability. As noted, age and severity of disability are the 2 factors with the largest effect on survival after stroke.
Results. Sixteen women and 15 men (mean age 68 years, not different between sexes) displayed LE, a diffuse hypo-density in the hemispheric white matter in all patients, but which predominated anteriorly (15 patients) more often than posteriorly (2 patients).

Juvenile and adult (late) forms of the disease have a milder, more varied phenotype, a slower rate of progression and a significantly longer lifespan (although we have observed a rapid deterioration over a year in one case). Typical features include spasticity, dementia, ataxia, peripheral neuropathy and visual loss.
19 lip 2021 · Although no improvement in functional outcomes was shown, the trial elucidated that benefits of intervention depend on surgical performance: a greater ICH reduction, defined as ≤ 15 mL end of treatment ICH volume or ≥70% volume reduction, correlated with significant functional improvement.
