21 cze 2024 · There are two issues with your COUNTIF formula. Your criteria in the formula, text(a:a,"mmm")="Jan", gives a full column of TRUE/FALSE results. The COUNTIF criteria must be a single piece of data for Excel to look for in the range. Secondly there are no TRUE/FALSE entries in your Column A to count.
24 lut 2021 · I am wanting to use the COUNTIF function to count the running occurrences of a text entry in a column. i.e. The first time it comes up it will return a 1, the second a 2, the third a three and so on. It works well in a spreadsheet.

A5: '000225. A6: '+225.0. =COUNTIF (A1:A6,"+225") returns 6. =SUMPRODUCT (-- (A1:A6=225)) returns 1 because 225 is numeric, and it matches only the numeric 225 in A1.
