If you receive a phone call claiming to be from Microsoft, or see a pop-up window on your PC with a fake warning message and a phone number to call and get your “issue” fixed, it’s better to be safe and not click any links or provide any personal information.

The pop-up claims your data is at risk and provides a phone number to call for removal of the supposed infection.
If a pop-up or error message appears with a phone number, don’t call the number. Error and warning messages from Microsoft never include a phone number. Microsoft will never ask that you pay for support in the form of cryptocurrency like Bitcoin, or gift cards.
