Layers of the Atmosphere Reading. Read and highlight important characteristics for each layer. Pay special attention to features and temperature. Background: Based on temperature changes, the Earth’s atmosphere is divided into layers. stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere.
OVERVIEW. In this lesson, students learn about the layers of the atmosphere as well as what things can be found in each layer. Objectives. Students will be able to: Identify the layers of the atmosphere, including their location relative to the other layers. Determine in which layer of the atmosphere different objects can be found. Standards.
The mesosphere lies just above the stratosphere, ranging from about 30 to 50 miles above sea level. This layer contains chemicals which absorb energy from the sun. Together, the stratosphere and the mesosphere are often called the “middle atmosphere.” The thermosphere lies above the mesosphere, starting at about 50 miles above sea level.
The troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, and thermosphere are the four layers that make up the Earth's atmosphere, which is differentiated by temperature. While fascinating occurrences like the stunning aurora occur higher in the atmosphere, weather processes take place in the lower layers.
29 sty 2019 · Mesosphere is the third among the five layers of the Earth’s atmosphere. It is located above the stratosphere and below the thermosphere, about 50 to 85 km above our planet. Click for Mesosphere facts and worksheets in PDF format!
(E) The troposphere is the densest layer of the atmosphere. It is much denser than the other layers. Shade this layer heavily to indicate how dense it is. (F) The stratosphere is very thin. Shade this layer lightly. (G) The mesosphere is even less dense than the stratosphere. Shade this layer very lightly.
Atmospheric Layers. By: Brittany Long, David Diaz, Karen Kuers, Kristin Bartee & Rene Lewis. Focus on Inquiry. The students will model the layers of the atmosphere through an interactive lab that looks at characteristics of the atmosphere by analyzing the atmospheric temperature profile and the special features that can be found in each layer. .
