Abstract. Since their introduction in 1996, tension-free midurethral slings (MUS) have been proven to have long-term efficacy and safety. They are considered the gold standard treatment of female stress urinary incontinence, especially in cases that are associated with urethral hypermobility.
Surgical mesh, made from polymers or biological material, is used to repair pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence in women. Possible complications include erosion, infections, and tearing of organs.
One case series study examined the management of mesh erosions by conservative management or if this failed mesh removal in women with greater than stage 1 POP-Q who had vaginal mesh kit repair. Management of sexual dysfunction and pain complications after mesh or mesh sling surgery
