When working on merit badges, Scouts and Scouters should be aware of some vital information in the current edition of the Guide to Advancement (BSA publication 33088). Important excerpts from that publication can be downloaded from. http://usscouts.org/advance/docs/GTA-Excerpts-meritbadges.pdf.
Included with the requirements are links to the Worksheets for use in working on these requirements. (Worksheets can be a helpful aid but Scouts are NOT REQUIRED to use them.) The Pamphlets may or may not be the current edition.
The pamphlets contain requirements, introductory information and supplemental reference text. A scout can purchase pamphlets from BSA, find them in a troop library, or often-times check them out from a public library. There is also a Requirements Booklet with a merit badge list for quick reference.
