9 lis 2023 · Defining MB/s and Mb/s. MB/s (or MBps) stands for megabytes per second and measures data transfer speed – how quickly a storage device can access files. For example, an external SSD with a rating of 500 MB/s can read or write data almost six times faster than a HDD rated at 100 MB/s.
MB/s are megabytes per second. Mbps (Mb/s) are megabits per second. A bit is the smallest size of data. A kilobit is a thousand bits. A megabit is a million bits. A byte is 8 bits, it's a unit of measurement for data from a different system. A kilobyte is 1000 bytes but 8000 bits. A megabyte is 8 million bits.
They are different measurements. Mbps is mega-bits per second and MB/s is Mega-bytes per second. Megabytes are much larger. You can find conversion tools with a quick google search, I don't know the conversion off the top of my head. Long story short, your speeds are normal.

Not to be confused with megabytes (MB) which is a measure of size rather than bandwidth. Because a megabyte is larger than a megabit, and to avoid confusion, MB/s is not used to denote internet speeds.
