Matthew 10 records Jesus' commissioning of His twelve disciples, empowering them to extend His mission. He gives them detailed instructions for their mission, warns them of impending persecutions, and encourages them with the assurance of God's providence and protection.
Jesus is teaching his disciples and us what to expect if we are to follow him. In this chapter Jesus gives a combination of direct orders and future predictions. Almost the entire chapter is a speech by Jesus explaining to the disciples their jobs as missionaries and witnesses for him.
In chapter 10, the King – our Lord Jesus Christ – sends out His messengers to proclaim that the Kingdom was at hand. He instructs them at length as to how they were to conduct themselves and what to expect. Let’s examine what He said to them and why He said these things. 1.
