Its address is 901 G St. NW in Downtown Washington, D.C., with its main entrance between 9th and 10th St. on the opposite corner to Gallery Place station, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Vernon Square was replaced by the large, modern Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library at 9th and G streets N.W. The new main library was designed by Mies van der Rohe and is eight times the size of the original Carnegie Library.
