(Mark 7:14-16) Jesus speaks to the multitude about the mere image of religion. When He had called all the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear Me, everyone, and understand: There is nothing that enters a man from outside which can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile a man.
What does Mark 7:14 mean? Jesus has had altercations with the scribes and Pharisees before, most notably regarding associating with sinners (Mark 2:15–17), "working" on the Sabbath (Mark 2:23–28; 3:1–6), and where His authority comes from (Mark 3:22–30).
