30 sie 2015 · In this text, Jesus addresses three different audiences: a group of Pharisees and scribes who raise the question of defilement, the crowd that is perpetually present, and the disciples who, true to character in Mark’s Gospel, don’t understand.
1. (1-5) Religious leaders from Jerusalem come to find fault and to ask questions about the failure of the disciples to observe ceremonial washings. Then the Pharisees and some of the scribes came together to Him, having come from Jerusalem.

In other words, Jesus critiques the leaders for inconsistency in their religious practices, while they hold others to the letter of the law.

It is not the tax collectors and other notorious sinners who are reproached by Jesus, but the Pharisees and scribes, the experts in God’s law, the high achievers in religious piety.
