15 maj 2020 · We are happy to announce that we are now offering both Quarter Sawn and Flat Sawn maple as a neck wood options on Custom builds. Largely this was due to a growing number of customer requests and Internet threads talking about how flat sawn is different in way of stability.
Most instrument necks are made of mahogany or maple. The neck wood can be flatsawn or quartersawn, depending upon the dimension of the neck stock, the intended neck construction technique, instrument style, tradition, and personal preferences.
Roasted Maple is a treatment process that improves wood properties in ways that benefit guitar players. There’s really no reason to not use a roasted maple neck if it fits the style of your build!

This process removes moisture and all kinds of other organic "impurities" that affect the stability of the wood and make it much more rigid while adding a deep and warm amber color for a natural vintage look.

12 paź 2018 · I just received an unfinished maple neck from Warmoth. I was planning on applying a Tru Oil finish, leaving it smooth and natural like my 20 year old Wolfgang neck. But, I've been reading about other methods (Minwax poly, tung old, Danish oil, etc). I don't want a thick, shiny finish.
