Kubota Garden is included in the City of Seattle's Trees for Seattle program. This tree walk highlights 14 special trees of Kubota Garden as chosen by the volunteers of Kubota Garden Foundation.
Kubota Garden contains a variety of trees and plants including Kuretake (Phyllostachys nigra or Black Bamboo), Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum), Blue Atlas Cedar (Cedrus atlanticus Glauca), and Norway Spruce (Picea abies).
The different layers of trees, shrubs, and bushes, lend a monochromatic green palette as a backdrop. A splash of color here and there is rendered beautifully by occasional flowering plants, or a red bridge over a koi pond, or a metal bell on display, or a calming waterfall.

A beautiful destination along the Chief Sealth Trail, Kubota Garden is gorgeous oasis where Northwest native plants thrive in the style of Japanese garden, thanks to horticultural pioneer Fujitaro Kubota.
Now owned and maintained by the City of Seattle, this 20-acre garden is open year-round and is free to the public. Dedicated volunteers offer free tours and events that are particularly popular in the spring and fall, when over 100 species of Japanese maples are displaying their color.
