This modern map shows the relationship of Little Tokyo to Downtown, Civic Center, the Produce District, and Boyle Heights. Most of the freeways are modern except for the Pasadena Freeway (Hwy 110) and 101 Hollywood Freeway which date (I think) from slightly before WWII.
29 maj 2019 · In 1958 and ’59, Japanese automobile manufacturers Toyota, Datsun, and Honda all began selling vehicles in Los Angeles. It’s likely, therefore, that some of these commuting congregants drove newly-purchased Japanese cars along the newly completed freeways, the construction of which had helped close the chapter on Japanese Boyle Heights.
