24 wrz 2024 · Hokkaido (北海道, Hokkaidō) is the second largest, northernmost and least developed of Japan's four main islands. Its weather is harsh in winter with lots of snowfall, below zero temperatures and frozen seas, while in summer it does not get as hot and humid as in the other parts of the country.

Hokkaido map. Hokkaido is the second biggest of the four major islands of Japan. It is lying north of Honshu and is connected to it by the Seikan Tunnel. The center of the island has a number of mountains and volcanic plateaus, and there are coastal plains in all directions.
The island of Hokkaidō is located in the north of Japan, near Russia (Sakhalin Oblast). It has coastlines on the Sea of Japan (to the west of the island), the Sea of Okhotsk (to the north), and the Pacific Ocean (to the east). The center of the island is mountainous, with volcanic plateaux.
