We want to match the antenna to the impedance of our radio and feed line which happens to be 50 ohms. From previous experience I knew that the radials should be bent down on a 1/4 wave ground plane antenna to better match 50 ohms. I used an MFJ antenna analyzer to obtain my measurements.
The upper horizontal Aluminum tubing that is shown in the pictures is a half-wave dipole that is tuned to 6 Meters. It uses parasitic coupling between the 10 Meter dipole and the 6 Meter dipole to allow the antenna to work on 6 Meters.

15 sie 2022 · You could say the DB201 is the most rugged but that doesn't make it the best performing, its only a 1/4 wave ground plane and slightly less gain than a 1/2 wave dipole. There are lots of 6m antennas that will put out a better signal.

6 sie 2014 · The dipole, while being mostly horizontal, does have some slight bend to it that may help with rounding out the radiation pattern. My antenna modeling experience has shown that bending the dipole into a 90 degree angle readily provides 360 degrees of coverage.
