Raindancer Wild Bird Rescue is dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of orphaned or injured birds of prey and the reintroduction of these birds to the wild. The organization is also committed to public outreach and education to promote conservation of species and habitats.
Raindancer Wild Bird Rescue was founded in Olympia, Washington to rescue and rehabilitate corvids and birds of prey, including eagles, hawks, falcons, osprey, vultures, and owls. Our facility consists of a clinic and several outdoor enclosures for treating and conditioning birds before release.
We rescue and provide sanctuary for displaced, captive-born wolves, offer a variety of educational programs, promote wolf restoration in historic ranges and work to protect our remaining wild wolves and their habitat. Wolf Haven has rescued and provided a lifetime home to more than 300 wolves.
According to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), there is an estimated 26,000 maned wolves left in the wild and a few hundred in captive breeding programs in zoos. See: "Encouraging News" below for more information. Maned wolves are found in the grasslands of Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, and northern Argentina.
We rescue, rehabilitate and release hundreds of wild birds each year. We also provide educational outreach programs. Our facility is located in the picturesque seaport town of Port Townsend, on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington state.
