I’m quite confused about Manduka Pros. Every thread and online review about them seem to say, “They’re great! But after three years of using it it’s still slippery and I usually use my lululemon one instead. Great mat!” Or something to that effect lol. Are these mats actually good?
I have a manduka pro I bought 7 years ago, and it’s great. It’s not as non-slippy as the cheaper mats, but it also doesn’t stretch and leave bits everywhere. I use a rub-on resin to improve the stickiness if I’m going to be sweating a lot.

Yes, it is worth it. The PRO mats have a slippery finish that wears away with time. To remove that slippery coat you can wipe your mat once with water & fabric softener. I've always heard tea tree oil/water mix or mat cleaner can work if you want to try that first. I don't need a towel and I practice Vinyasa and Ashtanga on my PRO.
