Manchus are the largest ethnic minority in Liaoning, Hebei, Heilongjiang and Beijing; 2nd largest in Jilin, Inner Mongolia, Tianjin, Ningxia, Shaanxi and Shanxi and 3rd largest in Henan, Shandong and Anhui.
With a population of more than 10 million, the Manchu ethnic minority group is primarily in northeastern China. Half of the total Manchus live in Liaoning Province, and most of the rest are divided between Hebei, Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces.

China’s government, however, continues to identify the Manchu as a separate ethnic group (numbering more than 10.5 million in the early 21st century).
The Manchus are the second largest (after the Zhuang) of China’s fifty-five official ethnic minority groups, numbering around 10 million people (2000estimate). They overthrew the Ming dynasty (1368–1644) to establish China’s last imperial era, the Qing dynasty (1644–1912).
