18 wrz 2024 · A 70-year-old man from Alabama recently died at a hospital in Florida when a surgeon mistakenly removed his liver instead of his spleen. This type of medical error is known as a "never event" because it should never have happened.
Liver resection recovery at home takes four to eight weeks. You may need to take this time off from work. You shouldn’t try to lift anything heavy or engage in strenuous exercise while you’re recovering. It may be 12 weeks before you return to all of your normal activities. Recovery from laparoscopic or robotic surgery is generally quicker.
How long you stay in hospital depends on the type of surgery you have. You might be in hospital from one week to a couple of weeks. You’re likely to feel very tired for several weeks and sometimes months after your surgery.
