Basically, there's a bug in the driver that prevents you from changing "Scale image to full panel size" to "Maintain aspect ratio" unless the driver is set to a non-native resolution.
Preserve aspect ratio - Expands the current image to the full size of the monitor while maintaining the aspect ratio of the image size. For example, at a resolution of 1280x1024 (5:4 aspect ratio), the screen will have black bars on the left and right side.
8 lip 2018 · I have already been to the AMD site and manually selected my driver a couple of times. The last time this happened I used the Intel Graphics Settings by right clicking on my desktop. I messed with a setting that said "Maintain Aspect Ratio" or something along those lines.

4 sty 2015 · I've uninstalled the GPU drivers and CCC and installed the recommended version from AMD, and you're right, now there is an option "Maintain Aspect Ratio" (curiously in English, while everything else is translated into German).
By specifying both you are changing the aspect ratio of the image. Just setting one will resize but preserve the aspect ratio. Optionally, to restrict oversizings: <img src="big_image.jpg" width="900" alt="" style="max-width:500px; height:auto; max-height:600px;"/>
