Immortan Joe, birth name Joe Moore, is a fictional character in the Australian post-apocalyptic action film series Mad Max. The main antagonist of the 2015 film Mad Max: Fury Road; he is also a major character in Fury Road's companion comic book series of the same name and its 2024 prequel Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
Immortan Joe in Mad Max: Fury Road Hugh Keays-Byrne (18 May 1947 – 2 December 2020) was a British-Australian actor. He began his career on stage in his native England, where he was member of the Royal Shakespeare Company between 1968 and 1972.
Hugh became noticed after roles in Stone (1974), Mad Dog Morgan (1976) and The Trespassers (1976). He landed his first leading role in TV film The Death Train (1978), and year later he became internationally well-known for his role of Toecutter in highly praised apocalyptic SF film Mad Max (1979).

Hugh Keays-Byrne (born May 18, 1947 in Kashmir, India - deceased December 2, 2020 in Gosford, New South Wales, Australia) was an Australian actor who portrayed Toecutter in George Miller's 1979 film Mad Max and Immortan Joe in Mad Max: Fury Road.
