Mac OS. MPlayer does not work on Mac OS versions before 10, but should compile out-of-the-box on Mac OS X 10.2 and up. The preferred compiler is the Apple version of GCC 3.x or later. You can get the basic compilation environment by installing Apple's Xcode.
The latest MPlayer release is 1.5, created on 2022-02-27, which includes an FFmpeg snapshot. We recommend to always use the latest SVN to get the all the new features and bugfixes, especially if the release date above looks old. We keep the old releases and ancient releases of MPlayer, in case anybody is interested.

18 mar 2022 · Since an update from version 10 to version 12 mplayer does not play videos correctly anymore (Mplayer shows movie on a quarter screen only). In order to try to fix this I want to reinstall/recompile mplayer and hope this will fix the problem. But a simple. brew uninstall mplayer. brew install mplayer.
First, create a shortcut to the mplayer binary in a convenient place. I use /opt/local/bin, but unless you've preconfigured that, use something already in your path, such as /usr/sbin.
