The M26 is a manually operated, shoulder fired light weight shotgun system weighing 3 pounds, designed to attach to the M4 carbine by mounting under-barrel with a quick detach mounting system. It can also be used in a stand alone configuration by attaching the collapsible stock assembly.
20 maj 2020 · The M26 is unique in its design as it can be fielded as a standalone weapon system or as an accessory part of the M16 Assault Rifle and M4 Carbine series of automatic weapons. In the former mode, the weapon is equipped with a full telescoping stock and receiver with integral pistol grip and optional optics.
The M26 fires 12 gauge shotgun shells with a case length of either 2.75 or 3 inch. The manual action allows for both full power and low power shells to be cycled. The detachable magazine comes in 3 and 5 round sizes.

2 sty 2024 · Another avenue for modification is to find an M203 stock. While the M26 has its own stock, the barrel-mounted M203 stocks would allow me to add an optic to the stand-alone M26 MASSterkey. The only problem is this stock costs as much as the M26!
