In the Star Trek universe, a Class M planet is one habitable by humans and similar life forms. Earth, Vulcan, Romulus, and Qo'noS are examples of Class M planets. [1] The planet needs an atmosphere of oxygen and nitrogen, should be close to a stable star, have fertile soil, a tolerable gravity, and a climate that is generally pleasant for humans.
20 maj 2017 · A habitable planet like the Earth is referred to as an M-class planet; often, members of the crew would call out that they were orbiting an M-class planet, or this would be noted specifically...
13 sie 2010 · Technology is one reason for this newfound enthusiasm for what Mr Spock calls M-class planets. NASA launched its newest planet surveyor Kepler last March. So far, the mission has found more than 300 new extrasolar planets.
18 mar 2024 · The International Astronomical Union (IAU) ruled in August 2006 that to be a planet an object must meet three criteria: It must have enough mass and gravity to gather itself into a sphere. It must orbit the sun. It must reign supreme in its own orbit, having “cleared the neighborhood” of other competing bodies. Is there a controversy? Yes.

Stars in binaries are best characterized by mass M, radius R, and luminos-ity L. Note that an effective temperature T eff is often used in place of L (see Eq. 66). An alternative set of parameters from the perspective of stellar evolu-tion would be M; heavy-element enhancement “metallicity” [Fe/H], reported logarithmically; and age.
12 maj 2020 · The system consists of the Three Kingdoms of planets, stars and galaxies, 18 Families, and 82 Classes of objects. Gravitation is the defining organizing principle for the Families and Classes, and the physical nature of the objects is the defining characteristic of the Classes.
