13 lis 2023 · Recent Killarney Whistles. I have heard some rumblings that the quality of the more recent Killarney D whistles, (2022 and more recent), do not have the same clearness of tone as when they first started producing them.
21 gru 2021 · I bought a replacement 314AW used, but in operable condition. When I first pulled it out and did a no load bench test, it operated as expected, maybe a little rough. When I put it on a loop and connected it per AF instructions, it is not working properly, no forward or reverse, and the whistle works on occasion.
Burkes are good, solid whistles. They generally take more air/are "stiffer" to play than a Killarney, Sindt, or Generation. Since people often have trouble with breath control and blowing too hard on those whistles, they end up liking Burkes.
8 paź 2015 · ZW whistle controls. I just picked up a nice Postwar ZW (R) transformer in good condition. However, when I use either whistle control on the first whistle step, the whistle tender tries to run. With the whistle control on the second step or full whistle, I get nothing.

However, the "best whistle" depends upon the situation and a Susato knocks spots off them on a street corner. If you want an easier blowing Susato, then try one of their VSB (very small bore) D whistles.
