26 lut 2013 · Several years ago I bought an American Flyer 1950 314AW steam locomotive with the famed whistle control box - all in like new condition. Never had a reason to hook it up on my layout as I had enough whistles, diesel horns, etc. to use. The whistle control box has (3) wires - (2) yellow & (1) green.

7 mar 2021 · #1. Repairing Steam Whistle. The best education starts when you buy a 3 chime Steam Whistle on Ebay that does not work. I'll preface this discussion with "I know nothing about Steam Whistles and how they work" but I want to repair this one to put on our Leffel steam engine.
Anyone ever have what should be a simple clean and lube repair that turns into a confounding puzzle. I've been doing repairs now for about 48 years, and do not recall a situation like this. I recently purchased a nice 2224W tender.
