A remove curse spell can rid an afflicted lycanthrope of the curse, but a natural born lycanthrope can be freed of the curse only with a wish. As per the Elemental Evil supplement released by WoTC: Any settlement the size of a town or larger can provide some spellcasting services.
There's information in the monster manual under the werewolf statblock of what the curse of lycanthropy can bring but it's (admittedly) a little vague. Though it does change the strength and constitution score of the cursed person and mention their transformation happens once a month.
