  2. Renew your vehicle licence online (rego) You can license your vehicle online or at one of our agents. Number plates are issued to a vehicle so it can be easily identified. You may not have to register your vehicle, pay registration and licensing fees or certain levies.

  3. Pay your licensing fees. If your licence has expired and you haven’t received a reminder, don’t wait! Renew online (you don't need to enter a reminder number if you don't have one) or fill in an Application to license motor vehicle (MR1B) form at one of our agents. Renew your vehicle licence now.

  4. Make sure your address and contact details on the Motor Vehicle Register are correct before you start this transaction. We'll post your new licence label to the address recorded, and if you tell us your email address you'll receive your reminders by email in future.

  5. Technical information. Under part 17 of the Land Transport Act 1998, a vehicle owner/importer must provide documentation that proves that they are legally entitled to lawful possession of the vehicle, and that the vehicle was designed and built to meet New Zealands vehicle standards.
