The dog’s age, sex, and breed, and conformation are very important clues to what might be the cause of lameness. Growing dogs have developmental orthopedic diseases and physeal fractures. Large-breed dogs have elbow and hip dysplasia, osteochondritis dissecans, hypertrophic osteodystrophy, panosteitis, and other diseases.
