Love does not define God, but God does define love. There is a beautiful logic here. 1) God is love. 2) Those who have been born of God and know God are God‟s children. 3) God‟s children have God‟s nature. 4) God‟s children therefore will love.
Love is at the top of the list for Christians because it best shows God’s char-acter.1 It was love that caused God to create us, to support us, and to make Himself known to us. Love also leads God to give us His Son to save us. John says it so clearly—“God is love” (1 John 4:16).
God’s love for us, our love for God, our love for each other. Meditating on God’s Word and reflecting on what the Scriptures say about love will encourage you in your faith journey as you see how amazing and unconditional God’s love is.
