I recently sold a baseball card for $600 on eBay and the buyer sent a message asking that I do NOT include any invoice in the package. Is this the lead-up to some sort of missing mail scam, or does the buyer just not want their partner to find out how much they spent or something?
Just asked him if I bought it, I want to send in and get authenticated right away and if it was fake, would he refund the money. He said yes. Then he blocked me from bidding on anything of his. Upon further research, he has TONS of non-certified autographs. A lot do look like they were done by the same person.
Immediately after receiving the card which I insured and shipped, the buyer filed a "not-as-described" claim. He said there's a hairline crease on the card and that I misrepresented it. I asked how I could possibly misrepresent a card graded by a third-party using their high-res pictures.
Fake Emails. There are some criminals out there that impersonate eBay and ask for passwords or try to trick you into giving your login information. If you ever receive an email or communication that claims to be from eBay but you suspect is a scam or phishing scheme, please report them.
A phishing email pretending to be from eBay typically contains a link that takes you to a fake website. There, you’ll be asked to sign in and submit personal and account information. These emails often include the eBay logo and a fake eBay address in the “From” line.
If you're suspicious about an email that claims to be from eBay, sign in to My eBay and click the Messages tab. If you don't see the same message there, the email is fake. To report a fake email, forward it as an attachment to spoof@ebay.com.
