Mod plugins for the game are files that end in .esp, .esm, or .esl. These files are created by the game's official editing tools, or by third-party modders' tools.
LOOT can automatically calculate a load order that satisfies all plugin dependencies and maximises each plugin's impact on your game. It can also detect many issues, and provides a large number of plugin-specific usage notes, warnings and Bash Tag suggestions for Wrye Bash.
The Toolbar. The toolbar provides access to LOOT’s main features: selecting a game, sorting plugins and updating the masterlist. These features get disabled while the metadata editor is open, so if you’re trying to use an option that is faded out, first close the editor.

There are two types of metadata that can be supplied to change load order: 'Load After' entries can be used for pairs of specific plugins. Plugin groups can be used when the plugin needs to load before or after many other plugins. Be sure to read LOOT's documentation for more information on these.
