Ready-to-lay pullets are young laying hens. They provide an opportunity to start egg production in short order as your new flock or expansions to your current flock. These pullets are between 5-6 months of age and trained to perches, nest boxes, and pasture.

Deer Run Farm offers started pullets that are off heat and ready for coop integration. These pullets are usually 8+ weeks old when available. The breeds we offer are Ameraucana, Copper Marans, Delaware, Olive Egger and Welsummer. Orders are filled in the order they are received on the first Tuesday of every month.
If you start with chicks, you’re looking at 5 to 7 months before seeing eggs from your flock. But if you buy started pullets from us, you’ll get a several month head start. Less equipment needed. Because started chickens are much larger, they can be out in the adult world much sooner.
