Genesis 45:6 and 11 tell us that when Joseph sent his brothers back to Canaan to bring Jacob to Egypt, there had been two years of famine. Thus we can say that Joseph was 39 years old when Jacob went to Egypt.

Joseph has his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim, during the seven years of plenty that came upon the land before it experienced seven years of famine (Genesis 41:50 - 53). 1670 Jacob is 130 years old. Joseph is 39 and Benjamin is about 23. Jacob's other children are between 39 and 46. Manasseh, Ephraim are between 2 and 9.
Of all thirteen sons of Jacob, Joseph was one of the youngest. The Bible states that Joseph was, in fact, Jacob's favorite son, to the point of gifting him with a beautiful robe, a valuable item in antiquity. His brothers envied him because they saw that Jacob treated him in a special way.
According to the biblical account, Joseph was the son of Jacob by Rachel, the patriarch's favorite wife (Gen. 30:23, 24), who, on the occasion of Joseph's birth, said, "The Lord shall add [Heb. yosef] to me another son." (Gen. 30:24) He was born in Padan-aram when Jacob was about 90 years old.
