Genesis 45:6 and 11 tell us that when Joseph sent his brothers back to Canaan to bring Jacob to Egypt, there had been two years of famine. Thus we can say that Joseph was 39 years old when Jacob went to Egypt.

Joseph was the son of Jacob and the husband of Mary, but he was not the physical father of Jesus. We do not read that Joseph was the “father of” Jesus. Instead, we read “Mary, by whom Jesus was born.”

Joseph is 39 and Benjamin is about 23. Jacob's other children are between 39 and 46. Manasseh, Ephraim are between 2 and 9.
