Genesis 45:6 and 11 tell us that when Joseph sent his brothers back to Canaan to bring Jacob to Egypt, there had been two years of famine. Thus we can say that Joseph was 39 years old when Jacob went to Egypt.
Joseph was the son of Jacob and the husband of Mary, but he was not the physical father of Jesus. We do not read that Joseph was the “father of” Jesus. Instead, we read “Mary, by whom Jesus was born.”

By Jacob's command [Gen 48.5], Joseph's sons, Manasseh and Ephraim, were regarded as de facto "Tribes" of Israel. Thus, the land allocations of Joseph and Levi were given instead to Ephraim and Manasseh, preserving *twelve* as the number of tribes.
Joseph, son of Jacob and Rachel, lived in the land of Canaan with ten half-brothers, one full brother, and at least one half-sister. He was Rachel's firstborn and Jacob's eleventh son. Of all the sons, Joseph was preferred by his father, who gave him a "long coat of many colors".
20 cze 2024 · The genealogy in the Gospel of Matthew says that Joseph's father was called Jacob,[Mt. 1:16] but according to the genealogy in the Gospel of Luke, Joseph was a son of Heli.[Lk. 3:23] Before having Mary as his fiancee, Joseph already had a wife (who died) and sons of his own.
