Likert scales are the most broadly used method for scaling responses in survey studies. Survey questions that ask you to indicate your level of agreement, from strongly agree to strongly disagree, use the Likert scale. The data in the worksheet are five-point Likert scale data for two groups.
The 3-Point Likert Scale is a powerful assessment tool employed to gauge the intensity of opinions, attitudes, and perceptions within a given survey or research context. Simple questions that elicit yes and no answers can be misleading in a survey.
Likert survey questions often use a declarative statement followed by a rating scale. Scales can capture two directions of values, such as the bipolar example below.

One naive conversion involves rescaling so that the min and max of the two scales are aligned. So for you 5-point to 9-point conversion, it would be 1 = 1; 2 = 3; 3 = 5; 4 = 7; 5 = 9. A more psychologically plausible conversion might consider 1 on 9-point scale to be more extreme than a 1 on a 5-point scale.
