  1. 15 wrz 2022 · A commonly accepted paradigm (based on Virchow’s triad of thrombogenesis) posits the pathogenesis of LV thrombus as occurring as a result of the interplay of 3 factors: (1) stasis attributable to reduced ventricular function, (2) endocardial injury, and (3) inflammation/hypercoagulability (Figure 1).

  2. Left ventricular (LV) thrombus is a feared complication of LV dysfunction associated with high rates of systemic embolism, morbidity, and mortality. Traditionally, LV thrombus has been associated with acute myocardial infarction (MI).

  3. 1 maj 2023 · Echocardiographic outcomes evaluated included resolution of thrombus size and time to complete thrombus resolution. Clinical outcomes included mortality, thromboembolic complications, and bleeding complications.

  4. Management of LV thrombus (LVT) is challenging and crucial to prevent the potential development of thromboembolic complications such as stroke. Anticoagulation with warfarin is recommended for the prevention of thromboembolic events, but novel oral anticoagulants (NOAC) have been used in clinical practice without supporting evidence.

  5. We aimed to improve the diagnosis and management of LV thrombus at a tertiary cardiology centre using quality improvement methodology. Outcomes included increasing the use of DOACs from 25% to 70% over a period of 1 year and shorten length of time from diagnosis to repeat imaging to within 3–6 months as recommended by guidelines.

  6. Here we propose an algorithmic approach to the diagnosis and management of left ventricular (LV) thrombus following acute myocardial infarction (AMI) that begins with transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) with contrast within 24 hours of index myocardial infarction (MI).

  7. 1 wrz 2022 · Left ventricular thrombus (LVT) remains a non-negligible complication after ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), and its early detection and optimal antithrombotic therapy are of...
