The Tax Assessors office determines all property values in the county for tax purposes, maintains county tax records and maps, compiles building costs, prepares annual assessments, adheres to policies set by the Georgia Department of Revenue, assists the Board of Tax Assessors and the Board of Equalization.
Taxpayers are required to file at least an initial tax return for taxable property (both real and personal property) owned on January 1 of the tax year. In Lee County, the time for filing returns is January 1 through April 1.
