19 kwi 2023 · I removed the water heater anode and drained the tank. Now I am trying to put a new electrode back in but cannot get it to grip to start to grip the thread to start screwing it on. I tried to lean up the drain as best I could to thread in.

Make sure the anode rod threads are clean too, then wrap 1 1/2 turns with teflon tape (a little technique needed here; watch a good YouTube video.) Snug the rod (8 ft/lbs), refill bleeding the air out and check for leaks. I'm not a plumber, but I play at being a good helper.
