When I finished my task i decided to to some calculations with Bitterkoekje's DPS calc, and from what it seems the sword is actually superior with pretty much all set ups, max str, proselyte, piety/no piety. Is this really the case? Has anyone else done any similar calculations with another formula?
Leaf-Bladed Swords are dropped from Turoths and Kurasks, which require level 55 and level 70 Slayer to kill respectively. It’s also dropped by superior creatures of each, being the King Kurask and Spiked Turoth. Leaf-Bladed Swords are dropped at a rate of 1/384 from both Turoths and Kurasks.
Leaf-Bladed Battleaxe is BiS for Kurask and Turoth melee. Slayer Staff for Crumble Undead at Vorkath. Magic Dart with Slayer Staff (e) can have a higher max hit than a Trident at certain gear/level brackets (unless I'm misunderstanding the Wiki).

As the title explains, I’m curious if they sword or axe is better. I just got assigned a turoth task, and I wanted to know before I bought the weapon. Thanks in advance! The axe got buffed since release so it does 17.5% more damage against turoths and kurasks, so definately axe. Really does make up for the 1 less attack speed. Axe. Axe for sure.
