Your tithes are holy to the Lord, and you honor Him by paying tithing. Paying tithing is an expression of your faith in God and His work. Why Should I Contribute Tithing? Everything that is good in your life is a gift from your loving Heavenly Father. When you contribute 10 percent to Him in return, you express your love, faith, and gratitude.
Sections of this handbook—such as attendance at Church meetings and activities (see 38.1.1), participation in family history work (see 25.1 and 25.4), service to others (see 22.2.3), and so on—should guide leaders as they counsel with individuals and their families.
Tithes and offerings allow the Church to pursue God’s work of salvation and exaltation (see 1.2). These funds are sacred. They represent the sacrifice and faith of members of the Church (see Mark 12:41–44). Some of the uses of tithes and offerings in supporting the Lord’s work include:
