Although the relative abundance of crappie species is good, very few legal-size fish are available. The fishery should improve over the next several years as crappie grow to legal size. Several species of sunfish are present, including bluegill, redear sunfish, and warmouth.
25 maj 2009 · Lake Gilmer 05-25. Everyone must be out on the lakes this weekend! I took another trip the lake Gilmer today with a buddy from work. Pretty much the same pattern as earlier this week but the bite was not as hard. Here is Chris with a couple of nice crappie.

The largemouth bass population at Gilmer Reservoir can be described as one of moderate numbers with good condition and growth characteristics. Relative abundance of legal-size bass is low, but good numbers of fish are available for catch and release.
