Public sector employees are governed by the Federal Decree Law No. 49 of 2022 on Human Resources Law in the Federal Government. They are on either a full-time employment contract, a part-time employment contract, a temporary contract or a special contract.
According to Federal Decree Law No. 33 of 2021 on the Regulation of Labour Relations in the Private Sector, the ‘UAE Labour Law ’ (which came into effect as of 2 February 2022), a worker can be hired on a fixed-term employment contract. The term may be extended or renewed for a similar or shorter duration.
Federal Fees and insurance amount must be paid at the time of application for renewal of employment contracts. In case of application for issuance of a new employment contract, federal fees will be paid after the approval of the work permit is issued.
