14 kwi 2024 · Also known as the Vortec 7400, the L29 was the final and most modern iteration of the venerable big block Chevy. It was available from 1996 to 2000 in 2500/3500/3500HD trucks and 2500 Suburbans. Factory power rating was 290 HP at 4000rpm and torque was 410 ft-lbs at 3200rpm.
24 sie 2021 · These engines are spec'ed at 9.1 comp with a nominal 106cc head chamber. My chambers measured 99 to 102 cc. Assuming a head gasket thickness of .050", compression right now will be right at 9.1, even after decking the block.

14 kwi 2016 · A few weeks ago I bought a very low milage 454 Gen. VI L29 Vortec engine with hydraulic roller. I have now disassembled the entire engine (except the crank and pistons) to check that everything looks good, remove all the dirt and grease and to prepare it for a rebuild.
4 mar 2019 · I have the stock 2.06 and 1.72 valves in them, small solid cam and an Air Gap. Look up Vortecpro on Peanut Port heads, Mark is the master on them. I think you can run Mark IV heads on a gen 5 block with different head gaskets.
5 wrz 2023 · Car specs are as follows: stock 454 HO (except for 9.7:1 comp and will add a 850cfm brawler I have lying around), headers, TH400 (will select new torque converter once cam choice is settled), 3.33 rear gears, weight is ~3500lbs without driver, tire height 27”, Any help will be greatly appreciated.
22 kwi 2024 · The L19 454 engine was rated at 230 horsepower and 380 lb-ft torque and found in GM’s 2500 and 3500 pickups and famously in the 1991-1993 454SS pickup model. It was discontinued after 1995, with the introduction of the L29 engine (Gen VI/Vortec 7400) in 1996.
