Public Tours are held year-round on the fourth Saturday of the month at 10AM. First and second choice for date and time of tour. Please allow at least three weeks prior to the date you want to schedule your tour to request a tour guide. Meet near the entrance adjacent to the parking lot on the day/time you have scheduled to tour the Garden.
In 1981, the 4.5 acre core was designated a Historic Landmark, and the City of Seattle purchased the garden from the Kubota family in 1987. The garden is an urban oasis, criss-crossed with streams and paths, ponds and waterfalls, rich with flora and fauna and a popular destination year-round.
The fourth Saturday between April and October, the Kubota Garden holds a public tour. Major features of the Kubota Garden include the Kubota Terrace, the Bamboo Grove, the Necklace of Ponds, the Mountainside, and the Tom Kubota Stroll Garden.

The Kubota Garden is easy to explore along well marked trails, and the setting is picture-perfect. Meander along trails with spring-fed ponds and mini-waterfalls. Navigate stepping stones across gurgling streams with traditional bridges.
Now owned and maintained by the City of Seattle, this 20-acre garden is open year-round and is free to the public. Dedicated volunteers offer free tours and events that are particularly popular in the spring and fall, when over 100 species of Japanese maples are displaying their color.
