Some backup dancers are the choreographers for those idol groups and the rest of the dancers are people they recruited or are part of their own crew, so it isn't all that bad. If anything, especially for less popular idol groups, dancers actually earn more because they earn the full appearance fees themselves and they don't have to split it.
